The Ring

Think about it, most girls want the ring. She wants to be asked by her man to marry him. The ring as tradition goes “as a rule the ring should cost three months your yearly salary.” I say remember there are no real rules. Some couples look in jewelry store windows or pawn shops together dreaming, some get surprised. Everyone has a different circumstance. The dream is still the dream, a partner that loves you and only you. Men worry that the people in their life are not going to like the ring. Men if you love the lady and she loves you then the ring no matter the size is perfect. The ring is given, if there is money to afford one. Small, medium, large can all mean the same when given in love. Men if you think your lady does not like the ring, or it is too small or any other thoughts you might have had at the time or since you asked her to marry you. I will ask you, Did she say yes? Yes, she did. She loves you no matter what. My husband and I have picked on each other over the years. I am not one to wear a lot of jewelry. Yes, as a teenager I had rings, necklaces and earrings. Jimmy gave me some himself, however after our first year of marriage he stopped. I would swell, the baby would pull on necklaces and earrings. I would scratch her with my rings. I just put everything in the jewelry box. I got out of the habit of wearing jewelry when our daughter was small. I would remember sometimes when we would go out. Over the past 26 1/2 years it has been a joke more times than not if I am” married today?” I have been married for 26 1/2 years, so yes I am married every day and night, 24 hours a day. With my rings on or not. I tell you all this because now my engagement is gone. Lost? Stolen? We have looked everywhere. We can not find it. Again it is not something I wear everyday. I do know I had my rings on February 9th because we had visited our daughter that weekend. I know they made it home. I was cooking on Monday and took them off to make bread. I put them in the same place I have put them for the last 10 years if I was in the kitchen. I have never once lost them. Again if you don’t wear something it is hard to lose. On February 14th I went to put my rings on to go to two funerals. My wedding band was there, my ring sizer was there. My engagement ring was missing. I did not have time for this. I had funerals to get to. I would look when I got home. When I got home I looked through cabinets, drawers, trash, counters, vacuum cleaners. I have torn my kitchen apart , swept, mopped, sifted ingredients. I tell you this so you know it does not matter what you think she thinks. If her ring is lost or stolen she will care. She cares because you gave it to her. Yes it can be replaced but it will not have the same feeling attached to the replacement as she had the day you asked her to marry you. If it is lost I pray I find it. It’s been over a month now with no luck finding it.
